Welcome!

Lady Poverty Fraternity is one of hundreds of similar communities throughout the world committing ourselves to following Jesus Christ in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi.  We are lay Catholics living in the secular world bringing “ the Gospel to Life and Life to the Gospel”.  Like St. Francis, we pray as individuals and as a community and preach the Gospel message by our actions and sometimes with our words.  We minister to the poor, homeless, indigent, the sick, imprisoned, and migrants and have a special calling to care for God’s creations and peace.  

 

Like St. Francis, we have a propensity toward joy, carrying out our ministries with positive, joy-filled hearts to lift up the hearts of those we serve.  No one is ever looked down upon or made to feel less than those who serve them.  

 

Lady Poverty Fraternity’s home base is at San Pedro Spiritual Center in Winter Park, Florida.  We meet monthly for prayer, Franciscan formation, and social time–generally around food!  The monthly meeting is also a time for sharing and supporting each other spiritually and emotionally.
